Diamond HD4850

Well I see NCIX has this on for $165 without the hassle of rebates so...

Is there any reason why I shouldn't get this? Fairly sure it'd be quite a step-up from my 8800GTS 320MB, plus I'll be putting it under water once the EK full cover blocks are in at NCIX.

Any comments on Diamond's warranty/support/RMA?

I have the Diamond 4850. No complaints so far for the past week. The temps seem to be okay...

As for warranty/support/RMA, their website goes to a special support site, which looks pretty familiar to XFX. I think it'd be a good investment...

It is a good investment but I like HIS warranty better because NCIX covers the first year. But the HIS version is more expensive and nasty MIR.

Yeah I want to avoid those MIRs...

AFAIK, as soon as I take off that heatsink, my warranty is lost on any ATI card so I guess I shouldn't be overly concerned about it

I suppose modding the BIOS kills the warranty as well

The only reason not to get it would be if you fold. nVidia 8800 series GPU's smoke ATI's at F@H.

Can't say I do, and even if I did, I'd rather gaming performance over F@H

Can't say i blame ya.

BTW: I have the HIS 4850...and it's a very powerful card for $200(what i paid). Once you get used to having to set a fan profile in CCC(PITA ), you'll enjoy it greatly.

I was thinking of flashing the BIOS to fix that...

Plus it'll go under water soon enough.

Have you tried OCing yet? If so, what did you end up with?

So far just 700(max in CCC) and 1105. With the fan at 100%-8k+rpm's i don't think heat is the issue. I think it's gonna need more voltage. I would have to say that i'm unimpressed with the O/Cability...so far... just as i was with my 3850(742/942).

Seems like that's what most people run around, though modding the BIOS can get like 800-900MHz on the core but apparently then the capacitors or something make a high pitched squeal.
