My System Specs

Default Super RV770?!?

Yep, ATI sure looks to have one hell of a card on their hands. They are now putting out the Diamond Radeon HD 4870 XOC Black Edition. Sure it is only OEM at the moment but things look really promising

From TGDaily
Quote:
"Diamond clocked the core of its Super RV770 at 800 MHz and the memory at 4.4 GT/s (1100 MHz QDR). There is some room for overclocking left, as Diamond its own version of an unlocked BIOS and the board can be propelled up to 950 MHz for the GPU and 1200 MHz for the memory."
From techPowerUp
Quote:
"The Diamond Radeon HD 4870 XOC Black Edition was clocked to kick some ass”. We didn’t just want a fast card out in the market, we wanted the fastest card that could kick the living daylights and bust some performance records, say Mario Gastelum, Director of Product Development & Engineering. “we wanted a card that kicked the competitions teeth into the curb”, and that’s exactly what our engineers accomplished”.
It appears that there isn't much more out there known yet, but I know my interest sure is peaked.

If it ever comes to retail, and the price is reasonable (X-bit Labs says it will come with a Danger Den waterblock), I'll definitely get one.

Here is the X-bit link: X-bit labs - Diamond Multimedia Preps Über-Overclocked ATI Radeon HD 4870 Graphics Card.

If the price was right I'd love to get one too...maybe $400-450??

I pulled the order on the HIS4870 as my GTX runs everything well without problems and I really couldn't justify it quite yet-

Exact same reason I haven't ordered something yet. If I had anything less than an 8800GTX, or even a G80 8800GTS, I'd upgrade in a second, but my GTX is still very capable and with my above average un-voltmodded overclocks, it still does awesome. I plan to get it voltmodded before I upgrade so I can get every last cent worth out of this card (I got it for ~$750 minus 300 for a 7900GTO step-up).

yea i noticed those clocks man that thing must fly. Mines fine at 650 in ATI tool, mem gets to 2050, but the shaders only go to 1458-still packs a punch though at those clocks...

Here is the thing:

9800GTX+ is release to compete with the HD4850

Meanwhile ATI is releasing "+" series cards to compete with the GTX 280....at 5/8 of the price.

NCIX says the video card will be in stock next week: http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=31578

Can anyone confirm if it's using some kind of custom cooler?

Would it matter if its using a custom cooler or not? What if it just works? Its like, Well, im not gonna buy the Infiniti G coup coz the air intake isnt as good as the Luxus Coupes:xD ( No one can find a use for all that power IRL , with out impending death:P) And if you can really tell the differance between 29-32 FPS from 120 FPS, than maybe you really better be working for Steven Speilberg LoL Coz thats why there is only like30 FPS in movies to begwin with. If there was a real differance, they would be making movies at 120 FPS. What you really ought to be looking for is actual usability. Like I know for a fact that the Power 7 can smoke ANYTHING and EVERYTHING anyone can build here no matter what. And thats stock, but is it usable to us? And for seconds, most of the benchmarks here are actually just gimmicks to satisfy urselves. IF it was up to me, I would take any stock processor, and a adaptec raid 5 card, and totally smoke any machine built, coz all the speed comes from the backplane, in balanced numbers. NOT a really fast ram system, but all matched. LIKE a mainframe is.
Peace out, and crunch yall all l8rs
