GJ SKY. The 700Mhz limit is a BIOS lock or CCC limitation?

Yeah. I was first impressed with ATI's solution to the 4850 temps, but when I read more reviews and saw the load temps, something wasn't right. And lo and behold - no vapour chamber. Because if the 4850 can use a 3850 HSF with some more thermalpads for the vregs, then a Zalman VF700 (no heatpipes) should be able to tame the core.

Sapphire should be advertising this. SKY, any word from ATI or Sapphire or other AIB's?

Edit: Another: VR-Zone : Technology Beats - RV770 Debut - Radeon HD4850 CrossfireX Scaling
