My System Specs

Default ATI vs Nvidia

Hello,

I am currently in the market to get a new video card but i am not sure what to get ATI or Nvidia. Right now I have a BFG 8500GT and a Intel 6750 and I think the video card is bottlenecking my CPU. I was hoping that some of you guys could give me suggestions what to get.

The only requirements are:

- I want to be able to play current games with everything on high
- price range 200-300 dollars

Thanks
Compgeek

HD4850 or 9800GTX would be a good buy.

For me its
Nvidia GPUs: XFX > BFG > EVGA > everyone else.
ATI GPUs: Gigabyte > ATI > ASUS > everyone else.

mmm id go with a 4870. Once they get the software sorted its going to be a much better card than it already is--50 watt of over clocking room on the pcb means that it could oc pretty good when cooled well. Plus I've heard that image rendering/quality c.w. with nvidia is fantastic in age of conan or grid for example.
Amazing the choice you have for $300 dollars now

also ATI: HIS (1yr) and gigabyte (3yr) have warranties through NCIx in the first year.

Looks like they currently hold the crown in the price range you are looking at.

I haven't seen anything yet to suggest that Nvidia has lost the "money is no object" crown, but it certainly looks like they're falling behind in the traditional gamers' choice of "high/mid" range cards.
