It won't cover the CF connectors but I haven't tested temps. Just whether it fits or not.

Wow.. HWCanucks seems to be slowed to a crawl thanks to this review. Once again, well done man! I can't wait to see more CF stuff.

As already said, job well done. And seriously, bless your minimum framerate and power consumption results. Be interesting to see if there's any headroom left in the card, especially with the aftermarket heatsinks.

That said, I was hoping to be able to make a more clear-cut decision between a pair of 4870's and a 280... Between the microstutter camp's rumblings and Xfire's minimum framerates performance, I still can't decide. It'll have to be the 1GB versions though, the gods of future-proofing are beginning to frown upon only 512MB.

Regardless, serious homerun for ATI this time around.

I got the card home on Monday night around 9:00pm. Between benchmarking and writing, I didn't want to put in a half-assed overclocking section until I was darn sure concerning the final STABLE overclocks I was able to achieve.

Sweet review. You deserve a DAM good reviewer award!
As for disponibility of the 4850, I have seen one on direct-canada, They most be out of stock as I wright this message. These cards will sell like crazy!

Now lets see some mismatched CFX reviews: 4850-4870....4850-3850.....4850-3870....4870-3850....4870-3870.... Let's not forget to put a 3870X2 in there too.

I am verry impressed with the results of the cooler you tryed on that 4870! It would be sweet if it pushed the air outside tha case, but then again the cooling performance is amazing and a case with good airflow should be abble to extract the heat effectively.

I am glad that SKYMTL took his time and did not rush this review. You do a great job informing us and I ask you to continu doing your job with this professionnal attitude. I preffer waiting a few days and have and good in depth review than having a bunch of benches thrown at me with little to no valuable text.

Once again Skymtl a fantastic review, you covered many of the new features and as always able to word it in such a way for us less then technical brains to understand. I am very pleased to see a clear and concise difference between the 4870 and the 4850 I believe there was about a 15-25% difference in certain cases especially at higher resolutions, this seems like a more viable reason to spend an extra $100 dollars or more for better performance especially at higher resolutions.

*I was also quite suprised to see HWC not loading up in its usual 1-2 secs, a quick search of google and low and behold I see ATI 4870 review posted at HWC and I knew exactly why, this place has been rammed for the last 8 or so hours I would imagine.*
