You’ve had your hands on this baby for awhile I see, and not a word.
You’re good!

You said if your 24" inches and under this card is overkill and should opt for something like the 9800gtx.

Now I know I'm a bit behind times on video cards but is the 9800gtx that much better than a 8800GT?

Not MASSIVELY better but better enough that it will tide you over for a bit longer than an 8800GT would. The reason I included the GTX in that statement is that it supports almost all of the features the GTX 280 does (Hybridpower, full HDMI support, etc.), can play games very well on anything under a 24" monitor and comes in at a fraction of the price.

Great review as always SKYMTL!

Though it's just too damn expensive for me. Any chance of getting a GTX260 as well?

Oh and I hope you can do the same for the HD4850/70 once the NDAs are up on it...

Default nice job

Wow checked the site this morning and there it was!! Obviously a lot of work went into this review and this card. Very impressive and a good start in the new GPU war.

I guess once the dies shrunk some of the bads will be can canceled out. $700 isn't too bad for an ultrahigh end superclocked card.

Cant wait to see what the GTX260 4870, and 4870X2 can do.

Will it be bottlenecked by cpus at 1680*1050 in Dx10? seems pretty pointless using this card for DX9.

I should be getting a GTX 260 within the next few days and yes, we will have the reviews of any ATI products when they are released.

As for this card being bottlenecked by a CPU...it is but you have to remember that can turn around on a dime as new games are released.

Just out of curiosity, How long have you had this card in your hands ?

And when is the official ATI release date ?

Nice review. Seems like this GPU is only for people that have a lot of hardware $ since a multi GPU option is better in alot of cases + cheaper.

Too much money for not enough gains at lower resolutions that most people play at. Great review, please don't think I mean otherwise. This card is obviously made to be top performer no matter the cost. I bet we don't see one for under $700 for some time in Canada making it a bar bargain since you can't even use the horsepower yet. It's like driving a Lambo on the 401 with a speedtrap every kilometer. Sure it's blazingly fast, but you can't use the power. I just don't see the point of it.
