BFG Launches New 8800GT and 9600GT OCX TI Cards

Today marks the release of BFG's new ThermoIntelligence cards in the form of the 9600GT OCX ThermoIntelligence and the 8800GT OCX Thermointelligence. While UPS insists on playing hide and seek with our package containing these cards, we decided to post a quick News Bulletin so you guys know what to expect.

Personally, I think these look VERY interesting especially if they can come in at around the street price BFG has indicated to us.

The 8800 GT OCX looks good and all, but why would they bring another card out well two cards out, when the 9900 series are out in July. Why would BFG do it.

People seem to think the 8800GT will magically disappear if new cards are released. Let me put it plainly: it won't. In addition, if "rumors" are correct, the cheapest next gen card from Nvidia may be priced at nearly twice that of current 8800GT prices.

ThermoIntelligence? wow, er, wait..
Looks like it’s just a bigger heat sink and fan than the standard reference cooling.
Not criticizing it, but I was expecting something ‘new’ not just marketing hype.
Priced well anyways.

I say screw all the 9 series recycled garbage as the GT200(GTX280/GTX260) is where its at this summer..., of course thats if you have very deep pockets.

I agree completely. They will almost certainly release ONLY the top end cards at first for the maximum profit while selling 8800/9600/9800 cards to maintain the mid-range markets. I bet we see $600-700+ pricing on the GT280's upon release PLUS there will almost certainly be supply issues. Price gouging will reign supreme for the short term as well.

I don't think it was garbage at all. They needed a die shrink to streamline manufacturing and did just that. It was the fanboys out there who hyped the launches once again and had people believing the cards would be some gift from god.

I should also mention that the 9800 GTX will play ANY current game at nearly ANY resolution...and please don't bring up Crysis. Recycled garbage? I don't think so.

Yea I was happy at first when I saw the $500 price but now its already way up-think Im going to hang onto my 8800GTX for a bit while things settle down with them-it still plays anything out there- crysis looks and plays great with the mods in DX9. I also remember when the 8800GT launched supply shortages ramped the price up pretty fast after launch.

I am hanging onto my 8800GT as long as humanly possible myself. The 8800GTX is still a powerful card too. Since there are no hard facts on a production GT280 we still don't have the full picture. Definitely a time to wait and see. I spend far more time playing games on my PS3 now anyways.

I agree SKYMTL, the 9800's were exactly what they were supposed to be, just not what the rumor mills promised. IF you ask me, Crysis is the garbage of poor optimizing and crap coding too. I hope that game's engine gets a chance to shine in a properly coded game soon.
