Default Where are GPU's made?

Are all GPU's made in Asia?

I know there are companies like BFG, EVGA, XFX, ASUS etc etc that for example use the NVIDIA product but where do all these companies (incl. NVIDIA, ATI) manufacture and ship from?

Just wondering as the rise in oil is really going to hurt shipping costs for these products if they are based in Asia (among other things).

Plus how much do you pay in the country of origin for these products vs US prices and do you get good warranties in these countries?

ATI's HQ is in markham.
Well you know how big companies take advantage of the cheap labor in developing countries. If its not asia then its somewhere else other than North America.

Don't think the shipping costs will effect the prices. you could fit a billion GPUs on a plane and they usally assemble the acually videocard At asus, sapphire XFX, evga etc. so its made in North america where people no what their doing. (Reference cards are probably made in the factory though).

If you buy a Athlon 64x2 in China or some other asian country, the price is pretty similar. AMD covers the waranty anyway. But people can usally get their hands on some black market stuff so they could be sold dirt cheap.
Same goes for videocard.

The GPU story goes something like this

ATI & Nvidia send their silicon designs to a foundry like TSMC

TSMC then fabricates the chip (core)

The PCB is outsourced out to a manufacturer like PC Partner or Foxconn

It then all comes together in the final assembly phase where the GPU, memory ICs and all the other components get installed on the PCB.
