Default Asus 8800GT cooling question

hello again.

i have an asus 8800 gt. will be putting the system together this weekend. one little question about cooling the asus card.

it has the glaciator installed. looks very similar to the "Top" edition. also i understand it has the same sort of fan control issues. many reviews have seen the card get to 85 or 90 deg. i am loathe to have anything that hot in my case.

i found an aftermarket product called

Arctic Cooling Accelero Xtreme 8800 VGA Cooler for NVIDIA 8800 GTS GTX Ultra *G80 Series Only

will this suffice. i take it that it will fit an asus 8800gt? it has four wires for the fan controller so i think i may be able to control the speed.

forgot to say its on sale at ncix for $32.88
thx again

I would really recommend the Zalman Vf-900 cooler but i belive the AC is on sale in NCIX for 20 bucks i would definetely recommend a good quality silent 120 mm fan to put on top of that. IF you choose to go to the route of using a Zalman Vf-900 in the review section i wrote an article about it there is also an article of Ac so have a look but act fast because the sale i believe for the AC was part of their anivesary give away.

at 55% new bigger cooler of my GT idling at 50-54 would ocme up max to 70 at 100%
now idles anywhere from 35-40 max ever seen it go was 52

but Ac Has a good thing too i just think its too bulky you choice mate.

Oh and if yu choose to go the Zalman Vf-900 yu can get it for 25 bucks there is guy called RefurbDoc who sells it on ebay hes a Zalman tech sells it cheap so pm me ill send you more details. I have bought over 7 coolers from him and hes been awesome given me discounts and a very honest seller so id like to give something back.

VF900 is great I already had one from my last gfx card and it works great on the 8800 GT, very quiet. Also the S1 is $20 at NCIX right now (IIRC). Another highly recommended (passive or active) cooler.

Rob123, the original cooler you have spec'd there will NOT fit on the 8800GT. Note where it says G80? your card has a G92 processor. Use the S1 model mentioned by Thund3rball if you want an Accelero.

If you like copper, look at the Thermalright V2. I just bought a couple used with fans(thanks Vinister) and my temps dropped around 20 degrees. I'm very happy with it.

Take AC Accelero S1 rev.2. It's absolutely best-buy price/performance ratio.
I'm very happy with it.
