I know it's the R9 290, I was referring to what manufacturer?

My only comment on this is that you have to have a TV that supports 4:4:4 chroma or it looks horrible. You also need to research one that has minimal input lag for gaming, or at least a proper gaming mode that does both point 1 and 2. I have a Sony KDL40EX723 which is amazing at both, but I was basically lucky more than anything, as I found some of this out after the purchase.

The first issue destroys text quality in certain color combinations as well as some detail in gaming, and the second one destroys gaming due to delayed response. To see the visual difference, look up Sky's review of that Samsung 55 inch TV he did last year.

So yes, you can be pleasantly surprised or mega disappointed. Buyer beware.

If you want to talk displays, I'd agree with others pointing you to the other sub-forum.

I would have to agree that I would personally stay away from this card because of the noise levels. I also am not a fan of thinking of HOW much this will heat up my room when winter ends and I can't keep my door WIDE OPEN in the -20*C ....

If I was installing a waterblock or it achieved the same performance without being able to hear it over my game while wearing headphones, it would deserve every award you could throw at it.
Agreed with your first sentence (requote), completely disagreed with your second because you are theorizing using poorly conceived reasoning.

Just because the cooler is not that efficient at removing the heat it doesn't mean it's going to heat up your room faster. 40 to 50 watts is not going to mean all that much unless you are sitting in a closet with a closed door.

Repeat after me: Watts is watts, whether dissipated and removed well (nVidia stock coolers) or poorly (AMD R9 29xx stock coolers).

Anyways I have all my cards with water blocks, so I'm gonna have fun with the R9 290X on the EK WB water block I have. I have a build log over on Daz's forums because he's the watercooling drug dealer of choice (for me). I also might try that GTX 780 Classy HC I have in the Prodigy but it's a bit on the big size.

Nice. I'm very curious to see how the temps are under water.

Also looking forward to your build log.
