And you said Silent mode was meaningless? Benchmarks AMD Radeon R9 290X Versus NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 @ Legit Reviews

Sweet baby Jesus! I went in to this review thinking.... "No intentions of upgrading. I'm just really interested to see what AMD brought to the table this round."
Well, now I`m not so sure. The performance/price ratio is over the moon!! Shwing! Freaking amazing!

i am so glad that amd and nvidia are punching it out in the gpu arena as we end up the real winners.

the performance gains we see with each new generation are phenomenal.

nice review sky.

Underwhelmed. The only good thing is the price. So basically a slightly cheaper 780 but the 780 is cooler, quieter, overclocks better and looks like it is made of quality parts instead of the cheap plastic on the 290x.

All Nvidia has to do is lower the price of the 780 and release the 780ti.

I am really shocked. Can't wait to see a Direct CU or windforce on one of these. Power consumption really is nasty though. Thanks for the great review Sky. Great read.

I was reading a review on the 290x vs 780 lightning, seems like the lightning was able to hold its own against the 290x at stock clocks:
AMD R9 290X Review (Part 1) | KitGuru
lightning also have lots more overclocking potential and runs a lot cooler. I have the lightning, the one SKYMTL sold to me :P

Great card, but its too bad that AMD couldn't have used a better heatsink design for such a hot running card. I'll be waiting to see what board partners make.
