I don't know why everyone is so impressed. The 690 which was released a year and a half ago is still fast, cooler, quieter, and looks much better than plastic.

The only good thing is the price. It is sad that we have gone through a whole new generation of GPUs from both companies and still have not seen a major improvement in performance.

Could be worse... Could be Intel CPUs... From Sandy to Haswell is only a small improvement.

Well I guess I get to save more money till Maxwell comes out.

Yeah, but it's a dual gpu card... some of us aren't interested in that at all. Been through SLI'd 560ti card, didn't appreciate the fact it didn't work on the one title I was playing at the time, never going back to a dual card solution unless it's just to extend the life of an older card I've already got.

Because a sub 600$ card is at the same level as a >1000$ that's why.

Dual GPU cards never clock like single SLI versions. Resale on a dual GPU card is always less than selling 2 single GPU versions.

one of the reasons i love having guest pc's and spare pc at my parents.
always somewhere i can stuff my GPU i paid 400-500 for 1-2 years before without feeling like i wasted my $ selling it for less than half shortly after.

Try a 3-6 month old Card selling for 40% of cost, that's realistic ;) Youre lucky to get a beer n a smoke for a 2 yr old GPU ;)

Belgolas.....many if us were never fans of dual GPU Cards.....Cost vs performance alone when compared to 2 high end Cards running SLi is enough to turn me off.
Not to mention you can now purchase a couple of 680's used, 780's for the close to the cost of a 690 and whip it's arse with raw Horsepower, that's the point.

Thermals, noise, and power consumption are atrocious. 480GTX all over again. That being said if I get one a waterblock will be mounted right from the get-go.
