Default Gigabyte GTX770 4GB Rev.1 vs. Rev.2

Hi all,

Gigabyte’s website lists two revisions of this card;

GIGABYTE - Graphics Card - NVIDIA - PCI Express Solution - GeForce 700 Series - GV-N770OC-4GD (rev. 1.0)

GIGABYTE - Graphics Card - NVIDIA - PCI Express Solution - GeForce 700 Series - GV-N770OC-4GD (rev. 2.0)

Rev. 1 shows Dual Link DVI-I and 6 & 8 pin power connections, and Rev. 2 shows Single DVI-I and two 8 pin connectors.

It also states Rev. 2 has “8+2 phase VRM power design”. Could someone please explain to me what that means?

Also, does anyone know if there are any other differences between these two cards?

Thanks for your time.

That's really odd.

I would say that the initial card (rev. 1.0) was simply a warmed over reference version with an updated heatsink, faster clocks and more memory. Rev 2.0 on the other hand comes with some additional features, though I don't know what you mean about the DVI connectors since they seem identical in the pics.

As for the 8+2 VRM design, that's been expanded over the reference version and uses Gigbayte's Ultra Durable components which are longer life and (supposedly) provide cleaner power. It's basically an effort to compete against ASUS' DirectCU series with their 10-phase SAP design.

Sorry, by shows I meant lists; in Gigabyte’s comparison window, Rev. 2 is listed as single DVI-I, but not in the main product description so obviously a typo.

Anyway, given what you say about the VRM design, how much of a difference in performance would you say this change would make?
Thanks
