My System Specs

Default GTX 760 SLI - Which One

So, I'll be going out next week to buy 2 GTX760's to run in SLI config in my main rig.

Question is: Which one?

I'll be buying locally from Memory Express, and pricematching whichever cards I chose to the lowest canadian retailer.

These are the cards that are available to me

Now, which card should I be choosing? After a bit of looking, I should be able to knock about $15 off of each card using price match (price at Newegg for the ASUS is $169 vs $184, for example).

I initially had an order in for the MSI twinfrozer card, but cancelled it a week ago. Now I don't know. The EVGA Superclocked with ACX cooler looks damn fine.

BTW, I'm not really a fan of blower cards, so I'd prefer to pick one of the twin fan custom cards.

In my mind, it's between the MSI, the EVGA Superclocked ACX, and the ASUS DCII....which do you think I should pick?

Hard to argue with eVGA GeForce GTX 760 2GB PCI-E w/ ACX Cooler, Dual DVI, HDMI, DisplayPort at Memory Express
Cheapest, great cooler, great company reputation.. Canadian RMA centre? If not then MSI is the next most obvious one.

Wouldn't wast my money on the SOC etc unless there are reliable reports of them having a significant advantage / binning

Well, they seem to come with a higher clock right out of the box...since I don't overclock my video cards myself, any advantage out of the box is welcome to me. And it's only $10 ($20 for the pair) more...

I have a 780 SC ACX and the cooler is really quiet, with the default fan speeds, I don't hear the cooler over my case fans on high.
I'm assuming the 760 will be even cooler and quieter.

Oh ya, I have no doubt that all three of the cards I specified will be inaudible and run cool, and perform within a hair's breadth of each other. I suppose it all comes down to which one I think looks coolest...eh? I really like the MSI though...that is a nice card!

the gigabyte is nice for SLI since it has a low profile cooler that doesn't take up an entire 2 slots as well as has pretty good cooling, as well as one of the top stock clocks. but it is quite long at 295mm. I like the MSI since it's similarly cool and quiet, has nice clocks but admittedly is beaten out by a few others, but it also directs some of the airflow out the back of the case, as well as is somewhat shorter at about 266mm.

EDIT: looking at your case, you shouldn't have a problem with the gigabyte board.

Really considering how easy it is and that you don't have to push any limits... just notch up a couple of sliders (and it doesn't break warranty) there is no reason not to OC your self these days... or even Just bump up the power target and let the card do what it wants (they self OC anyway with the boost state)

All they do is set the defaults slightly higher for the oc versions unless as I said they bin the chips better or use uprated components (these don't that I'm aware of)

If your still not even going to consider it then pick whatever card you want. MSI or SOC if you want that extra lil bit they give you from stock as they give the best performance - price of the oc'd cards.
Brand / style preference is the only other thing to sway you.

Biggest prob with the Gigabyte is no RMA in CA.

I've never been a fan of Gigabyte, and I've never liked the 'look' of their cards. ASUS have always been among my favorites, but MSI is entering my realm these days, too.

Ahh, I dunno...I'll probably just 'pick' one the day I go to buy them.

The Asus is overpriced, the MSI out of stock.. That leaves gigashyte(Though I've never had a problem with their graphics cards I don't touch their motherboards) and eVGA. :P
