Default Soooo....DX 11.2

Since the Xbox one will be released November 27 does this mean that a new crop of GPU's supporting said API will be released around or before Christmas? Any news? I was thinkg of going with a 7xx series GPU but if the difference between getting a GPU that supports DX 11.2 is only a few months, well...

From what I understand the newer GPU's which support 11.1 should also be 11.2 compatible. Also, game adoption most likely won't be that quick so there isn't really any need to worry.

That is true for everything except tiling. And, I know, it's just I've always been a little skidish upgrading GPU's when new tech is released. Even if it's a placebo, I would have buyers remorse if I bought a 7 series card in October only to have it beat down the following month.

Beat down by what?

DX11 was out how long before devs started to use it properly in any way. Hell there are still plenty thats not used in many games. nothing to worry about.

Buy beat down, I just mean tech-wise. But I just don't want to run into a situation where if I held off for two measly months. I know, I too am dismayed by the lack of proper support for things like tesselation where it was used so sparingly that it didn't much matter if it was there or not. Dragon Age 2, Dirt 2, Dues Ex. Bleh!

If we play the waiting game, hoping for the next best thing, we will be here a long time. There's always some new tech 6 months away. 9 months away.

Yeah, I know. I don't plan to wait forever. It's just that if nVidia sneaks a dx11.2 compatible card in two months after I drop my life's blood into 780 I'll be some disappointed. I'll have another card for you to buy.

^^^^ If you're that concerned then skip 7xx Series and wait for Maxwell early 2014.

How many of us will be upgrading to Windows 8.1 to get DX11.2 anyway?

Me cuz windows 8.1 rocks, if you want a bug free OS you truly do not love working with computers :P

Half the fun of anything is making things work that normally should not go together... like water and computers who would of thunk it :P

Thats the same reason many people get SLI and Crossfire its cuz we are all masichists and we all know it :P
