My System Specs

Default GTX680 vs GTX590

Which would you take for the same (low) price?

680.

I'm re-thinking SLi after going from 680 SLi to Titan.

SLi is very good and as good as multi card gets, but it's not as smooth/responsive as single GPU.

If you only care about raw performance... the 690... but there are so many positives of using a single 680 in comparison that you should consider it worth the loss of performance (and to top it off, you sometimes won't lose much due to the nature of SLI scaling and profiles).

I know the advantages/disadvantages of a single/dual GPU, the thing I've forgot to mention that it's gonna be used for computing. Not gaming.

590 all the way for parallel computing.

If your needs are for computing then you might want to stick with AMD. Go and get the 7990 and be happy.

He's talking about a 590 vs 680 for the same price not a $1000 card..

590 should yield better results although at the cost of noise, heat and power.. your choice, look at the numbers and decide yourself.

I thought he was asking for that but someone mentioned a GTX 690 and I gave him something better for computer. However, since he's asking about GTX 590 and GTX 680, I'd say go get a GTX 680 for the same reason you mentioned above.
