Default Titan temps

I recently got a gtx titan and the card runs beautifully. The only issue is the stupidly high idle temps. The card never over heats but it idles around 50-65C. Tried a driver reinstall and that didnt help. So im at a loss as to what it could be. (my last card randomly started to idle high as well) The card also seems to have some coil whine?

Poor case air flow perhaps? Try to set a more aggressive fan curve, change the tim and see if that helps.

On air mine never idled anywhere near that high, and now on water it's <10 degrees above ambient while folding. This is on an open bench mind you.

looking online at reviews doesnt look like the paste they provide from factory is that great or very well applied like most cards come try replacing it with better paste maybe

I dont think its case air flow because the top is off (lan box) and the front fans push air right onto it. I mean there is a AIO water cooler on the cpu and the air coming into the box goes through the rad first but i doubt it would set it that high.... It seems the card loves to constantly floor itself over and over even though theres no load?

That's not going to void your warranty...unless you apply the new paste with a hammer or something:)

ill try that as a last resort. I mean when gaming it doesnt overheat at alll it runs fine.... its these idle temps.... it seems that windows(or something) is constantly forcing the card to run at 100 for 5 seconds every few minutes which might be causing this.... did it with the last card it seems. but then the question is what is causing it?

I wouldn't ever worry about idle temps. It idles high likely due to it keeping the fan speed low. If it is running hot and loud under load at default clocks then I'd think about replacing the TIM.

I though replacing the paste would consider voiding your warranty
