Confused about GPU power consumption
I'm really confused about that, for example,in some websites it says the 660ti uses 160 watts idle and 400 load, that is stupid right? and others say that it's 160 watts load in crysis. There must be something i don't understand, can anyone give me a real graphic about GPU's true power consumption idle and load?

Whats more than likely happening is people giving both figures for system + card and just Card alone.
Watch for that in the descriptions of their testing methodology.

Yup. One is for the GPU and the other is the entire system. That 160w is for idle power use. Load will be much higher. My 7970 won't quite get to 400w under load. But it's close. :shok:

There are meaters Like Blue planet.

They will read power used on a plug.

If you are reading Hardware Canucks very little power draw,

Maxed out frame rates in Crissis and what not lots off power.

and Power companys love Folders to

As others have said, its total PC power consumption vs GPU consumption (for the massive differences).

kishagi March 20, 2013 04:43 AM

yea, both can help. total pc is to help get an idea how much power is needed for the whole system (usually for new builders) and the gpu only helps people who wanna crossfire or sli
