If silence is important to you then go for the Asus DC ii. EK also makes blocks for it so you can water cool easily if ever that decision comes up.

From what I have read the ASUS DCII seem to get the most consistent praise for noise level.

I'm an asus fanboy. But i gotta say that the MSI dual fan card has tested as a bit more quiet than the DCUII. 1dB. Since the reviewers do not put error bars on their measurements, I am just guessing that they are more or less the same. Except the lightning takes up only 2 slots.

I can't understand why GPU's don't have enormous three or 4 slot heatsinks ,they make bad ugly 3000rpm fans but with a bigger radiator it could be great and quiet, and every ATX case got's 7+ expension slots, the only problem would be for SLI/cross.You would even have the room for a sound card.

The only problem with asus is the price,i know they are awesome :D

Manufacturing costs would be way too high, not to mention the weight a huge heatsink would put on the card.

Yes, as it is the Matrix's cooler is a little much. Mine wants to droop a little at the back. EK is making a matrix block. So I might get that and do a loop just for the one card. I'm sure that will make it silent. Though noise isn't a problem with it's great cooler, size, weight and heat being dumped into the case really are.

Though the two exhaust fans I have running in my little p180 seem to do a good job of getting rid of the heat.
