Titan or 690?

My friend desperately want's to buy my 7970 Lightning fir CF and I want more power for Crysis 3 (which I happen to really love). I know the advantages and disadvantages of the single vs. dual GPU, but I still finding it hard to spend 1k for a card which is 20% slower than a 690. What you would have done?
P.S. - A single 1440p display.

Buy another 7970 save yourself a kings ransom and call it a day. I don't see an SSD in your rig specs.

Apparently Nvidia has really clamped down on micro-stuttering with the 600 series and their recent driver releases, if that's what you're worried about.

There's a 180GB Force 3 in there :P
About another 7970 - Having had nightmares with micro-stuttering with my previous 6990, I prefer not to go dual AMD cards. Although I don't have much experience (with the last gen) NVIDIA dual card setups.

Ah! OK, good. Didn't see the acronym "SSD" there so I ASSumed once again. Yeah micro stuttering can be a pain. I prefer a single GPU solution myself. I just hate the fact nVidia is jamming people in the backside with the Titan. It's like they are saying, 'don't like the stutter? Your gonna pay through the nose to get rid of it by buying this card for your first born, and oh yeah, you won't see the performance of the dual GPU setups either! Take that! Mr. customer!'

micro stuttering is an old issue, take the 690,of course.Even is the gaming experience is a tiny bit less smoother with a 690,it will handle higher settings and more games in the future,so...

Last time I check Corsair don't manufacture mecanical drives. for the op question, if it was me I will go with 2 x 680

2 physical cards are out of the question. Too much noise for me. And I don't have the time to WC them.

IRQ Conflict March 6, 2013 08:42 AM

That's always a surprise answer this day and age. To me anyways.I don't know of any GPU's that will overwhelm a game when being played. Unless of course your folding?

GT7R March 6, 2013 08:45 AM

If I'll have an NVIDIA card I will. Plus I mostly game at night and meanwhile my gf still wants her sleep time :)
