Never mind. Started crashing again, even with the increased voltage. I now have the card in my HTPC. I'm installing drivers, and I'll test it with heaven, see what it does in a totally different system.

So, Galaxy's RMA department tested my original card running 3DMark, and couldn't report any errors. I advised them to run Heaven, and see what happens. Their rep is telling me that it's probably a fault with my system that is causing the instability.

The problem is that I've tested my 680 in two separate machines (my original AM3 platform, and my HTPC FM1 platform) and it exhibits the same instability.

Also, I'm currently running that 6950 in my main system, and it's running flawlessly.

I realize that the chances of the same error occuring in two cards back to back in obscenely low, but it seems that is what is happening. It's a pity Galaxy can't seem to detect it.

I'm at a loss of what to do. I'm sitting here with a $500 card that is useless to me. I can't conscionably sell it, and transfer all these problems to someone on the 'off chance' that it works fine in their system. I can't use it, as BF3 will crash every few minutes.

I just hope Galaxy steps up and helps me out again...

As much as folks hate to do it, have you tried a completely clean install (not an image) with the latest non-beta drivers? Maybe there's a program / app / driver that's common to both systems which is causing the issue. It's a shot in the dark, but unless you've got really dirty power and don't have a UPS cleaning up the power I can't imagine two completely different systems failing exactly the same way without it being either the card that's buggered or something software related.

Well, there's a 5870 in my son's rig that runs great, and a 6950 in my main rig currently running fine.

Andrew from Galaxy contacted me today after I told him this, and said that in light of the previous info, he believes it's the card, too. I hope he's opting for replacement...

As far as a clean install of Windows is concerned...I did that a month ago when I upgraded from my Hex Core to Intel. The problem didn't change from my AMD system to the Intel system.

Yeah, I was going to say if the other cards work fine then it can't be the systems/power that is causing you grief. Glad to hear Galaxy is stepping up to the plate for ya.

Update:

So, a new GPU is in the mail. Galaxy is advance RMA'ing a new card for me. Once it gets here, I'll send them my new/old card.

So, Yay! Should be here next week.

Keeping my fingers crossed that it works out for you.

Just a thought.... any chance you've got the same model PSU in both PCs? Doesn't happen often, but every now and then we run into weird incompatibilities between components that are perfectly servicable yet absolutely refuse to work together.

Na, different PSU's in all three rigs.

Throughout the entire process, Andrew has always been very easy to get a hold of, and usually answers my emails/PM's within an hour or so (weekends being the exception here).

It definitely instils confidence in a company when you can directly get a hold of someone, and that person is the same person each and every time, who knows the details of your particular problem.

Try doing that with ASUS! (for the first time ever I don't have any ASUS components in my main rig...I went from a HUGE ASUS fanboi, to not having any of their components...!)
