8800GTS vs 9600GT
Hi guys,

I'm using 8800GTS 640MB in my rig right now. And i've also got 9600GT as my birthday gift yesterday

I wonder which one has better performance ??? because i plan to sell one of them...

Also wanna know which is the best between :

My 8800GTS, 9600GT, or ATI HD2900 XT CF ???

Thanks a lot guys :thumb:

I would guess that they are pretty close. I haven't seen any direct comparisons that I can think of but I do know that I would pick the 9600GT. At least then you could always get another one and SLI it, if you have the mobo for it.

Or of course you could sell both and then have about enough for a 9800GTX or 8800GTS 512MB. That would really get you the best performance.

I would honestly stick with the 9600GT and I agree with ipaine if you can SLI it do it and crank up the eye candy. It actually kind of burns me just looking at the performance of that card its just marginally slower then an 8800GT, but the cost of the card is what gets to me the most thinking back to what I paid for my 8800GT.

It gets me thinking what I paid for my 8800GTX ACS3 edition..... $800!!

That card has given you pretty good value and performance for the last year, my 8800GT has lost close to 60% of its retail value in as little as 4 months and in another 4 months it will most likely be discontinued. What is to be said about its performance a year from now I highly doubt it'll be cranking out framerates consistent with you're GTX today. A week ago I sold my Palit Geforce 8800GT for $165 I paid $285 for it 4 months ago and I am not factoring in shipping its really what people are only willing to pay used versus what they see in the stores with massive savings and mail in rebates.

Well I paid double the cost of a 9600gt for my 8800GTS 640mb and that was used off ebay. I have seen some benchmarks comparing the current cards to cards that are a year or two old. The 9600gt = 8800GTS 640mb. The difference between the two cards was within a percentage or two. So considering the 9600gt will use less power and can be sli'd for cheap I would keep it. However I would not sell the GTS just yet. Some of the 9600GT cards have issues with there hardware or bios and are pretty much crap. Make sure your card is good before selling off the GTS.
