I would go 7970 if you are sure the 570 isn't fast enough.

If you were playing BF3 daily, at max settings, I'd say Okay, it may be worth the money. But if you're playing Minecraft most of the time, it's a HUGE waste. Most discrete video cards would be. I would suggest buying a GTX660 or a 7850 for the odd time that you play Far Cry 3 or any other AAA title, and saving your money.
What he said above ^^^^^ .
But bliz, you contradict yourself. You mention playing Far Cry 3, but yet say you wont be gaming in 3D. A 680 is a complete waste of money if no 3D action going on.

But, if you intend on playing Far Cry 3, a GTX680 at the least if you want plush graphics. I did Alpha testing with FC 3, and let me tell you, at max graphics and even at 1920X1080, it will kick the shit out of most any single GPU card.

This.. I would try out what ever new game and either live with it or go 7970. I know if I had a 570 I wouldn't have bothered upgrading this spin round the block.

We are playing Farcry 3 at work maxed out on 6970's and 580's at 1080p the guys with 1200 and 1440 are running dual 680's though.

Think sticking with you 570 is the best till next get comes out save your pennies and just buy a 660ti and upgrade other components as needed

Below is a PCIe 2.0 vs 3.0 comparison in gaming, for your reference. I have a 3rd gen board [Z77] and 2nd gen card [GTX 560Ti 448 Cores] and processor [Core i7-2600K] and liked the sound of the marketing PCIe 3.0 "Total bandwidth for a x16 link reaches a maximum of 32GB/s, double the 16GB/s of PCIe 2.0 (in x16mode)." However, the review shows minimal incremental difference for gaming, so it's not worth tossing your 2nd gen gear just for the incremental bandwidth.

Ok,thanks, but there is something i don't understand.i will play FC3 too,not in 3D,so why do i contradict myself? It's not the same thing.it's just that i want to use that mod for minecraft and i want to max out last games.Impossible with 570.

You also told me that 680 is a waste of money if i don't play 3d,then you say i need at least a 680 for far cry 3,maybe i don't get it???

Actually, with farcry 3 on max,it's smooth but there is enormous stuttering every second,i think it's the background effects thing, anyway does not work with 570.

Dzzope, about the cooling, actually i forgot that the 600 series cards have lower TDP,i think that a 680 should run even cooler than a 570.my 570 is not even a rear exhaust card, and the temps are ok...Even if i understand that for my case,a rear exhaust card would be better, because it's quite small...btw the 250mm fan is not there anymore, removed it for hyper 612S,anyway just had a 2c difference with and without,so...Yeah I don't have problems for Graphics card size,i can fit any graphics card in it.The thing is that it's not thick, and not high...

I'm not only buying a powerful GPU ONLY for minecraft,i'm looking in the future,i want to play next year's games, of course.

Anyway thanks for advice,i may upgrade it next year.

Very good advice,Soulle.I'll wait for a 770,maybe...or 760ti

Personally I think I would buy a 680 but TBH how could you go wring with a 7970... it is a toss up.

Waiting for next gen is not something I would do. It means waiting an undetermined amount of time only to pay full price for something that may or may not be worth the wait and price.

While the AMD stuff has come down the Nvidia stuff is still pricey. Bar sales / specials. With AMD not releasing stuff untill next year and Nvidia probably(guesstimate) being around x-mass if not later I would say it's the perfect time to not upgrade.

He's got a very good card that is only 1 gen old. For the extra performance he'll get compared to getting a new card on release in the next cycle thats exactly what I would do.
Main reason I jumped from a 560ti to a 670 was the 1 GB of ram on the 560 was being maxed out. otherwise it would be still rocking away in my rig.

Obviously this is all very subjective (personal preference and circumstance has soo much to do with these decisions) but upgrading every second gen to the top or close to top card is about ideal.
