I want better coding. It's utter BS what it takes to run some games.

Some of the comments outside of the forum regarding this is pretty interesting. One basically says that AMD wants to get rid of the old cars, so it's making consumers stop playing the waiting game. as they prep for their 8000 GPUs.

Because newer = superior = better

But as someone who runs a GTX 460 768MB here... I can I better put my $50 NCIX gift card to good use! Get them free games and a 7950 or something! Even though I have no use for it!

Oh crap.. Folding..

AMD needs to shift %100 of all their resources to their main customer to make a profit. For 2013, their main customer won't be video card users, but console manufacturers, if the rumors are true. Trying to serve both is unrealistic.

Though i do agree it would be great if the "software team" would go through a complete overhaul. Even better would be a 4th Q 2013 release of the HD 8000 series optimized for all the latest games, and in sufficient quantities.

Thats actually a very good point. If they can come out strong with a late 13 / early 14 release. Good stock and a good card, then it could be very beneficial for them.

AMD's problem is they don't know what they want to be anymore. Do they want to be a CPU company or a GPU company. Used to be all the had to concentrate on was CPU's and competing with Intel - and they were doing a pretty credible job of it. Then they bought ATI and combined company had to compete with two very large and aggressive competitors. While Intel can concentrate most of its resources on it's CPU's and nVidia can focus most of its resources on its GPU's, AMD has to divide its resources between the two divisions to stay alive. This results in some of the marketing shuffles that have become so common of late.

AMD dies... Their strongest CPU is 8 core and is not even as good as an I7 and their GPU's,actually are quite good for new, even if the drivers could be better, but they generally need more watts... Intel destroys them with the CPU side and nvidia is the GPU leader...AMD won't make it...

The FX-8350 is a damn good CPU, and comes at a good price. It's certainly not a slouch, and in a lot of benches it plays with the big dogs of Intel. It's weakness as everyone knows is single threaded situations and power consumption. For $200 I can live with that. The 7970 is just as good as a GTX680, and it gets better as the resolution gets higher. AMD is doing well IMO.

I don't think that not seeing a new series of cards is a bad thing. It just goes to show how well both camps did with their last gen of GPUs, and if it's going to take that long for the next gen......just imagine what they'll be like! I think we'll see some major powerhouse GPUs from both sides.

I just want to reiterate something here.

Just because AMD may not have the "HD 8000" series coming out for some time, it doesn't mean there won't be ANY new cards from them.

/end hint

7930/7830???

Doesn't really matter for me. I'm more than happy with what I have at the moment....not looking to upgrade for a little while, so any new card releases are for posterity only.
