Default BF3 Single card recommendations

I need a single card solution that will be at least equivalent to two 6970's in crossfire for bf3.
I never had ..or at least not to my eyes or knowledge any of the stutter or messed up video i had been reading about.
Basically I am looking at either a GTX680, GTX670 and or a HD7970.I don't think a 660Ti or 7950 will be comparable to what I have now...so any user opinions...or experiences would be greatly appreciated. I've been reading tons of reviews,,,but direct comparisons to xfire 6970's are hard to find in recent reviews
I play at 1920 x 1080 with pretty well everything cranked.

Thanks everyone

A single card (short of a GTX690) will not substitute for 2x6970's. However, if you're playing at 1920x1080, what you have is seriously overkill in the first place. You would be happy with a 660Ti, as that will allow you to set everything to Ultra, turn on FXAA, and still push out framerates >60.

I was able to play Ultra everything with a 580GTX OC 1920-1080

System is:
I7930 running at 4.2
12gb ram
580GTX

Plus all the other junk.

Running a 680 4gb MSI twin now across 3 24"s

On 1080p for our house there was no change from the 660 660t 670 680 or my 6970 6990 7870 7950 or 7970 they all played great but when the reviews and move was done all I had left was the 660 and 6970 both of which are awesome cards.

The 660 OC by MSI is one of my favorite cards but the 660TI PE by MSI is hands down my favorite card to date so silent and a power house. If you have to do the swap from your 6970's go for a 660Ti SLi setup or a single 680 even 7970 if you wanna do many lcds.

Reason for getting rid of the 6970's? a single 6970 will run as fast as a 660 (maybe not quite as fast as a ti) I see no reason to change here...
If it's cos you don't want dual cards, remove one and you should still be able to max BF3 at that res

MSI GTX 660ti PE or the 670 PE. Both are excellent choices.

I play on Ultra with AA off on a 6870 and get 60 fps solid. I did this on an i7 960 and am now doing it on a 2500k.

Only reason I'm changing everything is I'm moving to a mini itx system and away from my huge tower.
I may try a single 6970 until I decide which way to go. Leaning towards a 670 or 7970.

Since you have the 6970 already I would go with the single and see how it goes. It should be a bit slower than a gtx 660 (nonTi). If its not sufficient I would go to a gtx 670 to have a solid gain over the 6970. As already mentioned your crossfire 6970 are likely going to be more powerful than a single card at this point.
