Dedicated physx cards, whats enough and what obtimal

So here it is, what's enough when it come's to dedicated physX cards? will a gtx 260 get you through or would you be better off getting something with a fair amount more cores, say a gtx 650ti.

From personal experience I can say that a single card is not enough to push physX on high ex: Borderland's 2

so i ask what are the most important facts to look for when looking into something of the sort?

Did lots of reading on this and it seems the 650/650ti is the best price to performance cards.

Most modern cards should be able to push decent framerates as well as full PhysX, all at ultra settings. I'm thinking here of GTX660Ti or higher at 1080P. Why would you need a PhysX card?

I was hopping to be able to stop major frame rate drops whenever I reach a high capacity area. Even when i turn the resolution down to 1680x1050 (everything maxed out) I see entire periods where I drop to 15-20 fps.
completely re-installed drivers and such but still seeing these problems

I had the same issues till I upgraded to a SSD then that issue seemed to vanish.

Wow I never even thought of that but wouldn't having enough ram do the same thing since I think most games load into ram or am I off here?

His sig says he has 16GB think he is covered and I was having this issue with 32GB's of ram and even saw it on my main rig with 64gb of ram both systems when upgraded to a SSD (one OCZ Vertex III the other Corsair Neutron GT) the issue Was gone in 90% of games I still see random slow downs here and there in badly coded games like Fallout.

Also have see this when my paging file was to large as well.

Looking at your specs, there's no way you should be dipping down to those framerates in any game at any time, if you're playing at 1080p. I mean, you have a 3570K and a GTX670, that's a pretty powerful rig that shouldn't necessitate a PhysX card. There must be something else wrong. What driver version are you running? Are you buy chance playing on three monitors?

I'm still putting my money on HDD check event viewer and see if you have disk errors or get a SSD 100% you will not regret it.

@2560x1440 everything on ultra on a 670 and i7 950 I never dip that low. No way you should be seeing those frames, as said above you definitely have some other kind of issue
