It involves putting a Antec Kuhler 620/920 on your GPU. I have done this mod on my GTX580 with zero issues using the zip-tie method. I can run my GPU at low fan speeds with very low temps. I currently hit about 48c when playing Far Cry 3 and even lower with less demanding games.

I bought the Antec Kuhler 620 for $40 from NCIX and some VRM sinks for $6.

I would go with a upgrade.I used to run a TRI-SLI GTX-470 at 800/1800 ,but bought two GTX-670's in SLI and they are faster then all three of my 470's with them being overclocked.

I've been researching the enclosed cooler conversions, looks very much like what I should do here, should be able to get it done $50-60 total, I just need to hunt down a cooler.
