HD 7950 vs GTX 670

I have been trying to decide to go with on a build for a buddy of mine. What do you guys think? It will be strictly for gaming only. He mainly plays BF3 with some Farcry 3 and Planetside 2.

7950? the 7970 is more on par with the 670, even then the 670 has the edge I believe. 670's are heavily discounted right now too for boxing day.

Not sure how reliable of a resource this is, but...

I'd say go with the cheaper one. brand preference notwithstanding.

I was quite sure from what I had read things were a lot more even now with 670 and 7950 due to the driver updates on both etc...
and now the 7970 and 680 are also very matched? Perhaps I heard/read wrong..

Id go with the 7950, most benchmark scores, score higher including with the fps benchmarks.

they are about equal.. 670 should be a bit better at 1080 with all the extra's on..

Get whichever fits your budget best / brand preference.. Personally I'd go 670, bad experiences with AMD's drivers.. Though they are much better than they were when I had my last radion.

Sapphire HD7950 Vapor-X is great. I love it. Got mine OC'd 1100 and 1450 stable!!!

Another sapphire 7950 vote, grabbed an early non vapor x duel fan version with the dual bios. Once it is overclocked, it beats out a 670 @1080P, and runs so cool and quiet while at it.

They both overclock well, so again, brand preference.. Though if your into dabbling with the oc's / dual bios etc stuff, the radion is the better choice.

I'd go with the 670, nVidia still has overall better drivers and driver support then AMD
