DirectCU2 680 or Matrix 7970?

Going to be building a new rig soon and I was wondering what your opinion would be on these two great cards. To be honest it's really a tough choice for me, the Matrix i hear overclocks really well but I have almost no information as to how far I could clock the DirectCU2.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Matrix... just check out SKY's review... DCII would be comparable clocks to gigabyte windforce or MSI TF III/IV

ya if your gb windforce sucked.. the last 2 i oc excluding mine did 1260+ easy. 1800+ mem
i almost feel yes the matrix is a great card but most gb oc windforce ive seen will do similar clocks. for 24/7

should add i excluded mine because it does 1290+ /1900+ clocks 24/7

and i also should add these are 7970s im talking about.

Matrix 7970. That, along with the Lightning 7970 is the best single GPU card on the market imo since AMD's "Never Settle" drivers and NVIDIA's no overvolting policy.

Go for the 680 because the performance from the 670 and the 7970 are like the same

so you should know what to pick

depends on what you're using it for. GT7R is right that AMD's new drivers revealed how powerful they really are, but for sure either card will blow you away.

Sorry to add a link of another site but re-reviews of the same cards with the updated drivers are pretty rare, but here it is;

Only if you read 8 month old reviews do you think this.

With the out of the box clocks of the matrix even or most of the ghz edition stuff this is no longer the case.

Take mild overclocks into consideration on both sides the 680 falls behind quickly typically they just don't put out as much performance clock for clock and the amd cards seem to oc further on average.

I think i'll go with the matrix, physx really isnt all its cracked up to be plus the never settle bundle really is kickass. Thanks for the suggestions guys.

Good choice

I'd go with the Matrix. It has excellent performance and OC'ing capabilities as far as I'm concerned.
Good luck with your card!
