Question: GTX 680
I currently have a GTX570 with a motherboard called ASUS Maximus IV Extreme-Z Z68R. Would you please advise me if I can plug-n-play a GTX 680 into this MOBO?
In addition, which GTX 680 are you recommending? I notice there are significant price variations between manufacturers.
I live in Canada.
Uninstall NVidia drivers.
Download latest Nvidia drivers.
I personlaly like the Asus model for their quite efficient Heatsink and fan assy. This model: ASUS GeForce GTX 680 DirectCU II 1019MHZ 2GB 6008MHZ GDDR5 DVI HDMI DisplayPort PCI-E Video Card
Of course, any GPU uses a PCIe slot. 2.0 or 3.0 it's not important!Won't change anything, as long as you have one, it will work!Just plug the card in the highest slot ,so u make sure it's the x16. for the company,i recommend ASUS or MSI,or gigabyte. or course you could buy a cheap gainward or PNY or something like that but well, you won't have an awesome cooling :/They are not the best at all.
for a 680 i'd go for ASUS...or MSI, don't really know, you could get a lighting edition from MSI, more expensive, but the best 680 on the market, probably...
yes you can, PCI-e 2 and 3 almost the same, as long as you only have one card...but when you SLI them, the difference between 2 and 3 maybe noticeable.
I recommend 680 Lightning...no doubt.
what happens when you don't uninstall drivers? I seem to remember doing this in the past and having catastrophic results, but the nVidia drivers seem stable enough.
