Default OEM cards?

Can you not buy OEM cards?

I want the cheapest Kepler (Nvidia) video card but after looking at the wiki, the cheapest looks to be a GT 640 (need GK107).

I imagine none of these would be for sale in B&S section, right?

I think new, it's $75 - $80?

I want to buy one for my bday but I have to settle for early Dec. :-)

The OEM cards are in the Asian market or something? I'm just wondering what that is about.

I assume the retail ones are anything listed that doesn't have 'OEM' beside it?

I think the GT 630 that are Kepler cards are ONLY OEM as I couldn't find any pci-x 3.0 GT 630 cards available in Canada. Even when a vendor has it showing 3.0, when you investigate further (by going to the manuf. web page, for e.g.), you discover the info was false.

Oh well... I was just curious. Perhaps, I should search the forums...maybe a similar topic was posted once upon a time? :)

Thanks in advance for any info.

Edit: It's not for gaming. Since, I'm upgrading a card, I thought I'd go to the Kepler series... it's for HTPC and video with anything else a bonus. It appears as thought the 640 could do light gaming and the 650 is almost the same price and same power. I might look at that, too. I'm not going any higher than $80, though. Rebate will get me there but those take a long time to get returned, right?

Are you gaming? If you are, the 550Ti is a better choice. Why do you want Kepler so much?

Is this a good deal?: EVGA 01G-P4-2650-KR GeForce GTX 650

Or should I stay with a 640 which I can get for $70 w/ rebate?

I'm going with Kepler because I rarely upgrade. When I do, I try to go with the most recent. :) Been years since I've bought a card. In fact, my last card I bought used.

What are you doing with the card?

Once again, the 550Ti is more powerful than the 650.

Totally agree, Why absolutly want Kepler? check the performance!

Better see real benchmarks But 550ti is cheap now,and much faster.

You can get 550ti for cheaper than 650! i have seen 550ti at 90 euros,or around 100.

the most recent is generally the best, but don't just blindly buy it. What will the card be used for?
