AMD 12.11 "Never Settle" Driver Performance Comment Thread

AMD's new "Never Settle" 12.11 drivers supposedly bring performance increases for the HD 7000-series but there's nothing unusual about that. The kicker here is AMD's claim of framerate improvements in almost every....single....game. Now that's something we just had to put to the test.

Wow, just wow.

Up to 25% increase in BF3 frame rates?! Nice play AMD, nice play.

Hopefully they can keep this momentum going with future drivers.

WOW see if AMD had done this from the beginning they would've had a real winner. I was slightly disappointed when it turned out to just be new drivers however this driver update is pretty much like a whole new card release.

Hey SKYMTL: How were the temps and power draws? That performance leap has to come from somewhere...

I doubt it is drawing more power considering it is running at the same clocks...

Any chance of adding an overclocking section?

From hexus "In a semi-facetious way, it makes you wonder what AMD's driver teams were doing for the past 10 months."

Where are these drivers. I want them now. haha. Is it only going to be an increase on 7000 series cards or will my 6950 get a bump?

On the drivers page it still shows 12.8

Zero difference in my testing. The optimizations don't use additional computational power, they just increase the already-present architecture more efficiency.

Think of it like pouring tap water into a bottle with a small opening. Typically, some will pour out. Use a funnel and the same amount of water coming from the tap ALL goes into the bottle without any waste.

Optimizing the way things are used doesn't necessarily mean additional waste. :thumb:
