My System Specs

Default 7950 cf vs 670 sli @2560x1440

Just researching this gen, I have 1st 6950 for sale locally and on ebay (I don't have a cam so not on HWC)

7950 cf
-3GB 384-bit vram interface
-a bit cheaper

670 sli
-seems to beat the 7950 in most thing when both at stock from most all benchs I've seen so far, many are probably with old CCC drivers.
(12.8 still doesn't have skyrim 6950 CF right, mega micro-stutter, going back to 12.3)
-NV really does seem to be more on top of drivers, judging by how the 7950 was in Jan vs how's it's got better now

Or I could get openbox/refuribrised 7970 cf for ~ the same as new 670 sli, 7970 and 670 are pretty even from what I've read so far, but with 3GB 384-bit 7970 my preference

If you get full warranty of the 7970s then they are the way to go IMO. But if not, I'd take the 670's over the 7950s.

The 3GB at 2560 x 1440 isn't really a necessity, it may help out with the odd game or two however running a monitor at 2560 x 1440 off of GTX 680 (making the 2GB vRam example here) I don't run into any issues of running out of video ram.

Where having 3GB of vRam would shine would be 3 monitor gaming (eyefinity or nvidia surround). Personally I'd choose whichever has the driver support for the games you plan to play now, as I know how frustrating it is playing some games and not having proper support or profiles for your game.
