8850/8870 rumors on the net ... would you buy 7870/7950 now?
 
So in the last 24 hrs, a few sites have been MANY postings about the rumored AMD 8850/70 (oland) specs & pricing ... Would you even concider buying then either of the 7870 or 7950 videocards available now if there going to be coming to market soon (rumored january 13' timeframe) as well as the price points sugested ? (8870 msrp $279)

considering i just got a 5850 i wouldnt be upgrading any time soon to the 8xxx series .. why? because im not a hard core gamer :p i play starcraft 2 and dota 2 ... why do i need more power? also if i was everyone else i wouldnt buy it first id wait it out coz sometimes first batch arent always the best :p

According to the rumour they're increasing the die size by about 20%.

Sure, they'll have a more powerful chip, but unless they do something to increase efficiency, too (something which the current generation of chips is lacking, compared to Nvidia) the cards will just have to contend with increased power consumption, heat, and noise.

As for me upgrading, I usually buy the generation that takes advantage of a new die shrink. I bought the 5800 series, then the 7900 series, and I'll be waiting for the 9900 series.

Agree 100%, I bought the 7950 a month ago, in 6 months I will add another, and will upgrade again to the 9900 series when I need to.

Not sure if serious, ATI/AMD has released a new GPU series yearly for ages. They will release a part this Dec or next Jan, i'm pretty sure of it.

Their business depends on yearly releases.

Maybe so ... but doesnt help me or anyone else to understand what or whom he is saying bs about ... my posting of this, someone elses coment .... I think he could "elaborate" more on at least what he is calling bs without gettin TOO much into it since he has in the past.
