I would say one 670 or one 7970 would be good for 1080 gaming. But if you throw SLI at one 7970 for pure frame rates, 2 670 in SLI would win unless there is a sli driver bug with one of the games.

I max BF3 without issue on a single 670..

generally 1 670 is about equal(depending on title) to a 7970 at 1080.. Higher res and the 7970 will overtake..
