Default GTX 660 Ti Review Comment Thread

The wait for an affordable Kepler-based graphics card is finally over. The GTX 660 Ti is here and with it, NVIDIA's current generation has finally hit the all-important $299 mark. But this new card won't have an easy time of since it is competing in a market that's straddled by AMD's HD 7950 and HD 7870.

Should be interesting to see people's opinions about this one.

GTX560ti448 FS soon enough...

I think this is the best mid-range card to come out in a while.

Why would you not do a comparison against the 560ti or a variant? Just to see the improvement?

Hrmmmm..... MSI cards in stock @ $320 ($304 after MIR), 7950 vanilla cards @ same or under, a few 7950 OC cards @ around $320 after MIR. If I wasn't a folder, price/performance alone on pre-bios tweak 7950s would probably be my choice, post-tweak if it's a viable 10-20% improvement makes it a no-brainer.

Going to put this one in the AMD column. :)

That's the rub, isn't it? Why Stanford doesn't release a client optimized to utilise openCL is beyond me...

I 100% agree, this changes my mind for future purchace decisions.
I was hoping for a great price performance leader like the 460 launch, but its all good.

Solid card, but doesnt match expectations.

TBH, I was expecting the GTX660Ti to flat out beat the 7950. It really only matches the 7950 (sometimes beats it, sometimes not), which given the price point, is expected anyways.

SKY, Quick question (I may have missed it in your review) Did you manage to do the benchmarks with AMD's controversial bios update for the HD7950?

Hmm its there but not quite enough it seems. I suppose thats what happens when you scale down a core that the 670 lives on.

Hopefully if there are any non-TI versions in the future they will be like the 460's of old. Still, If you look at what my GTX580 cost compared to this now its amazing to see how far ahead we have gotten ourselves.

If only I could afford a Pair,
