Default Gtx 660 Ti's release to impact on Radeon's pricing?

Any thoughts on this? I'm not a big fan of buying the latest card, though the hype for Gtx 660ti is up to the roof.

I would rather settle for a 7850 or 7870 if they will drop at the end of next month.

What do you guys think?

The 7800 series is very quick for its pricing, however I dont think AMD can afford to lower the prices anymore right now. Its anyone's guess but I would bet that the 660ti will beat the 7870 (who knows by how much) and at a rumoured price off $300 (correct me if im wrong) so I would most likely get a 660ti IMO

If the 660Ti releases at the 7870's current $299 MSRP then the 7870 will have to drop unless AMD wants to take a lickin' at that price point. You may have to wait till fall for an adjustment though.

Well some reviews I have seen from some less than trustworthy websites show the 660 ti ahead of the 7870 and even the 7950 (I find that hard to believe because then it will step on the 670s toes). At the end of the day you need to wait until launch date before you know anything.

I'm waiting for the 660ti this time round. Had ATI forever want to try nvidia for a change... Going from a 3870 I think I've waited long enough :) I don't think it's going to be $299 base price. I think it will be 350 for sure. Also I don't want a reference cooler so who knows how much a good ASUS cooler version will be.

yes I think the $350 price point makes a lot more sense, so they can get rid of the reported overstock of gtx 570 and sell gtx 670.

I think this may interest you.

Gigabyte GV-N580SO-15I GeForce GTX 580 Super Overclock 1536MB PCI-E w/ Dual DVI, HDMI at Memory Express

not a bad price point if I do say so myself.

That's a hot deal! However, I hate dealing with MIRs. I also hate the idea that they give you a gift card, so you don't really "save" all that much. For example, I use the $60 gift card on a $60 item with original value of $10. Then where's the real saving?

I think the 660 will be about the same performance, cost the same.. have no MIR and use less power and generate less heat and noise.

Which is better? Tests and announcements of price will tell..

No one really knows what AMD will do but if history is any indication, if a price drop is warranted, AMD may be a bit slow on the uptake.
