Beware when you return something to Newegg, I paid $530 for the video card and only got $350 back and only used it for about 5 days. Rip off's, anyway I need a new video card and I'm thinking no more AMD unless they pull their crap together. I still play at a 5760 by 1080 resolution and my rig is i7 3770, ASrock Extreme 4 Z77, 16GB Dual Channel 1600MGHRZ RAM, 120GB OCZ Vertex 3 SSD (boot), 500GB WD Blue, and 850 Corsair PSU (80+ Bronze I think lol). I'm thinking GTX 680 as a replacement for my 7970, now should I go with MSi or some other company. I've always gamed with MSi for a very long time and I've only had two issues with their products including this 7970 Lightning Edition. What is a good RELIABLE company that won't break as likely or come with problems and will cool very well for some fun OC'ing. Keep in mind I will more than likely SLI what ever I get and the performance I want is maximum setting or nearly maxed and expect 60fps. I know that may look like a bit of a high standard, but here's how I look at it. If you want graphics that will make your eye's blow up, use a PC. If you want to play the game use a 360 or PS3 or Wii... lol. Now I've been recommended a dual GPU card and I will NEVER buy one of those because the cooling is horrible unless you get liquid and I will NEVER use liquid cooling with a video card. Thanks so much, I've had a horrible experience with the 7970 and will probably stay with nVidia because I've never had an issue with nVidia with the two video cards I've purchased a 9600 GT and GTX 470 which makes me wonder. I've purchased a HD 5850 and it killed every game for me (in a good way), then a GTX 470 loved it. After a bit I wanted to do multiscreen gaming so I turned to AMD got a 6950 2gb. Now the first one I received was a lemon so I got a new one. It's worked flawlessly so I decided to Crossfire two of them, shortly after the 79XX series was released. Then I flipped, sold my 6950's and got a 7970, then shortly it didn't work out. Now I'm really stuck and most benchmarks are with systems that aren't similar to mine and the resolution and I wish the PC/Gaming community realize's 1080 is kinda fading away to bigger resolutions. Anyway what next, I'll be able to get a card in a bit please help, by the way NO MORE AMD! Oh and another question what card will be able to play Max Payne 3 at a massive resolution, because that game is way too fun and looks freak'n NICE!
Negative points on wall of text, not reading.

Yes I have narrowed it all down to my video card because I tried a GTX 580 in the computer and it worked just fine no problems.

I wonder why you decided to return it at a loss instead of first trying to RMA the card and getting a replacement. There could have been something wrong with a memory module on your specific card. Well, anyways, I wish you luck in your future graphics card endeavours and sincerely hope that you find what you're looking for...

Yeah thanks I'm thinking a GTX 680 either Twin Frozr III or a EVGA one.

I'd go with GTX 670. Its 95% as fast as a 680 and mostly faster or equal to a 7970 (and cheaper than a 7970).

Which one? The 5450? It's got a passive heatsink. It's only really good for playing HD video though. It doesn't have enough power to play anything more than flash games. Which is why it's in my HTPC. But yes, it is one quiet card.

Not with the latest AMD drivers it isn't. The 7970 is now as fast or faster than the GTX 680 based on most newer reviews, plus with the price cuts, it's around the same price as the GTX 670's.

I meant the Powercolor 7950, which, according to the HC review, is the quietest 7950 by far. I would have gotten it myself if it weren't for Gigabyte's 3-year warranty and that I may sell it in a year.

Back on topic, I'm glad to see people are recommending AMD again, since the situation was pretty bleak for them 3 months ago, but I still say 670 is the way to go for OP. The 670 vs 680 difference will be pretty small at that resolution (meaning they will both suck, like any other single card) and the only way to push it is with another GPU.

Since OP doesn't want to go AMD route, the 670 is just the most economical choice.

Oh, the Powercolour is okay. I have no complaints with it so far. It's OC'd to 900Mhz and the fans never go over 30%. Temps hold steady at 52C under load. I definitely can't hear it over the noise of my case fans unless I manually turn up the fan speed.
