Nvidia Surround question?

Hey guys,

I'm getting a GTX 680 and am thinking about using Nvidia Surround. I have one 23" Acer slim 1080P monitor at the moment and wan't to add 2 more.

Acer S230HL 23IN Widescreen LCD Monitor 1920X1080 100000000:1 5MS DVI VGA - Acer - ET.VS0HP.002 this is the monitor here, will it work for Surround?


Also from experiance how much do you enjoy using Surround? how is it for games?

its not about the pleasure for gaming on surround its about the pleasure of having surround bragging rights...well for me atleast :)

I'd recommend against trying to do nvidia surround or amd eyefinity on a single graphics card at high graphical settings. The reason is, 3 monitor gaming taxes your single card 3 times as much, severely lowering your frames. I'd only recommend sli/x-fire or tri if you plan to do 3 monitor gaming with all the eye candy on.

GTX 6XX series for <1080p
HD 7XXX series for >1080p

The reviews i have read show the GTX 680 preforming well with 3 montiors with all or most eye candy on. no lower then 40 FPS in most new games. Then again i'm not to picky if i have to turn some things down untill i throw another 680 in.

My GTX 670 was running BF3 great on high settings. So I would say you can get away with single card surround if you don't need to have max settings.

Personally that's not amazing frame rate and at times you may notice some dips in performance. Up until this generation I was running dual cards for 3 monitor gaming due in part to the reasons I previously mentioned.

I rathered having 60+ FPS at all times with 2 cards, then the chance of stuttering/lag/sub 40 fps with all the eye candy maxed.

i know 40 FPS isn't amazing but i can get that to 60+ by turning down some Settings. Then when i can throw in a second GTX 680 and own those 3 monitors :P

Yep, that's why I'm advocating/recommending dual cards over singles, and well warning you at the same time.
