New Graphics card I can get a Radeon HD 4670 AGP graphics card for $60,,(maybe $50) Just wondering if this would be compatable with the HP pavillion a250n,, Atm we have a Nvidia GeForce 2 Mx400 which took the place of the original graphics card ,which was the Nvidia Geforce MX 440 x8 AGP,but that decided to stop working. Not much of a gamer on the pc,will mainly be using it for watching movies, browsing etc Any and all input would be greatly appreciated |
Scroll down to the reference picture and make sure the card and slot matches. Nvidia listed 2 different mx440 with one labelled AGP8x and the other one not. So make sure you pull the old card out and look at the wiki reference. Accelerated Graphics Port - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia |
If you don't game really, then I'm sure there are probably some here with a very old card that they may be willing to part with for less or just for the shipping costs a 4670 is many Many times more powerful than a geforce 2(especially the mx400).. All depends on your needs.. And with movies and browsing being your use, basically anything will do. Am sure you should be able to find a second-hand agp card for next to nothing that will perform nicely for your needs. |
the original was the AGP8x. So basically this Radeon HD 5670 would be too much overkill? |
Personally, if you play any games or watch HD video you'll notice a massive difference. |
cool,, but just realized the PSU is only 250W,im guessing it wouldnt be sufficient ?,, dont want to get into replacing the psu just to get a new GC, |
No it won't be, at that point you might as well pick up an older core 2 duo setup for around $100 and get a modern graphics card & PSU. |
Agh , with all that to consider i may as well pass on the Radeon 4670. i mean im not without a semi-decent pc. I have another pc hooked up to my 47"LED.. : Intel Core 2 Duo CPU E6750 @2.66 GHz , 2 gig RAM Nvidia GeForce 7800 GTX Windows 7 Ulitimate Just figured the Radeon wouldve been a nice upgrade for the a250n and didnt think the price wasnt too bad. Thanks for the info guys :) |
Where are you located? If you're in Vancouver area, I got a GeForce 4 that's just sitting here. I can give you to you for like $15 to cover gas. |
