GTX 670 vs GTX 680
So, I've currently got an Asus DCUII Top GTX 670 in its box because I ordered a Galaxy GTX 680 SOC White Edition. I'm starting to wonder if the GTX 680 is worth the $135 incremental cost, and likely, additional noise as I've been reading the GTX 670 is super quiet, especially the Asus model. The Galaxy GTX 680 I've read gets really loud past 60% fan speed.
Anyone have experience with the GTX 670 vs GTX 680, should I just cancel my GTX 680 order and stick with the 670, or should I just eat up the additional cost?
I'm running a Dell U2711, so it means 2560x1440 and playing the latest games generally (currently Max Payne 3).
Thanks to any advice you guys can provide.
Well the ASUS cards have incredible cooling potential but the 680 is faster (not by much). The biggest reason i would stick with the 670 is that cooler
Purely because of your resolution, I would say go with the 680.
Normally I would say the extra cost isn't worth the premium, but at your resolution I think the extra power will come in handy. That or you could go for the 670 with the option of SLI down the road.
i have to say the 670 just casue i am loving mine takes everything i can throw at it scores a little below my 448 cores's in sli can't wait to get another lol
I am also running a 2560x1440 monitor with a GTX 670 Windforce. I haven't checked ping or anything, but I play BF3 on Ultra with AA and I get no lag whatsoever. Runs smooth as ever.
I am considering upgrading only because I need 3 monitors for work and the 670 only supports two as far as I know.
cause one thread i was talking about teh 3dmark scores this i was talking about teh vantage score it swings both ways but one thing i can say is i am very happy with the upgrade i havent started folding on it just yet but i have heard that the old 448 cores performance was just great
edit to mention i didn't have a word to say about your other thread XD
if i had to choose again i would still save the coin and grab the 670 i think it's a better buy period
SLI is definitely an option down the road, and I actually do like the idea of the 670 being nearly silent which is what I've heard of the Asus DCUII model as well as the Windforce model.
Im not a fan of SLI. Had 580 in SLI and maybe it was overkill but the increase in FPS was not worth the microstuttering.
Im trying to decide on 670 or just wait for 685
I have the Asus GTX670 DirectCU II TOP and was able to push it quite a bit past stock settings of 1137MHz. The cooling solution that Asus implements is very quiet and works quite well.
Having said that, with the GTX670 overclocked, it comes pretty close to matching the GTX680 performance wise.
