Oh my goodness. I am having a backwards day. I mean a Gigabyte GTX 670 Windforce OC vs a Reference 7970.

Sorry!

I must say, my GTX690 tears through everything at 2560x1440. Maximum settings, maximum AA, AF, the whole she-bang!

...but since you're looking at the ~$400 range, I would go with the GTX670. ATI's driver support seems abysmal right now.

Well, good call. I just picked up the Gigabyte GTX 670 Windforce OC an hour ago. Can't wait to start my build tonight.

Yep my 2 x 580 Ultra 3GB smokes through anything at same Res.....will be skipping 6xx Series altogether ;)....next investment for me will be GTX 7xx Series.

Well, I picked up a GTX 670 Windforce OC 2GB. I have the option of replacing it with a 7970 Windforce OC 3GB.

If I want to power the 1440p display for gaming and two other monitors for other stuff, will the 670 cut it or am I better suited for the 7970 3GB?

I run 2560X1440 with a windforce 670. I would like a little more horsepower to be honest.
As far as vram 2GB is plenty. I haven't really seen usage of the frame buffer go over 1.2GB TBH. I would stay with the 670 I guess but really it is a toss up. I doubt the 7970 would be tangibly any better.

Yes the 670 would do just fine.

I think the 7970 will give you SLIGHTLY more raw power... but given the issues (especially very recently) with AMD's drivers and how close the performance is I went for a 670 too..

Even though the 3 free games does make it cheaper than a 670 but I think I might only really play 1 / 3..
