right, if the price is right, 580sli is a beast, it can easily keep every game I can think of at +60fps @1080p

it does exist, as wierd a phenomena as it is...some gamers have huge gripes with it.

here's a good read about it: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/...fire,2995.html

that shouldn't deter you from sli'ing...but if your finicky, you may be upset with the results.

good luck
micro-stuttering is only really an issue with lower end graphics cards in SLI. Nvidia almost never has this problem with their higher end cards.

IMO get the fastest single card you can afford, and then you can always SLI/Crossfire later.

Or better yet 5760 x 1080, that's another resolution that begins to bring cards to their knees.

Yeah I've been running SLi 580 Ultra 3GB Cards for about 5 months now, Nothing holds em back at 2560 x 1440......the plus with these cards is the 90mm Fan, due to the size, I never have to set the Fan speed higher than 45%, obviously very quiet with very good Temps. Personally I'll be skipping the 6 Series altogether.....which isnt like me at all ;)
