Default Rising temps on GTX 580

I have an Asus DCII GTX 580 (OCed to 910 core and 1100 mem) with Arctic Accellero 2 Extreme cooler. When I've installed the cooler in March the card was maxing 76-78c with it. Now with the same app (3Dmark 11) it maxes at 88c. The cooler (as is the whole PC) is cleaned on a monthly basis.
Just wondering, whether it the newer drivers which allow getting more juice out of the card, as it's benchmark scores are a bit higher than they were back in march...?

Could be the new drivers, could also be ambient temps are higher and so you get reduced cooling.. (or a mix of both)

Drivers, or the paste is drying up or got disturbed, never hurt anyone to re paste the cooler.

So the drivers CAN affect it... that's what I wanted to know, thanks :)
Will re-paste the cooler as well.

Yes,drivers do affect temps, but 88c maxed out is not that bad. Many posts talk about the 580's hitting 90c when in heavy gaming etc. I don't think you will fry your card with those temps, but getting a couple degrees cooler with different drivers is what you should try.

I won't likely be going back to an older driver version since the current one (301.something, a beta) performs significantly better at Battlefield 3 which is my primary game since it's release. If temps will go past 90c, I'll rather downclock the card a bit than chamge the driver version

Re-seated the cooler yesterday, the highest temp I've seen (in a pretty warm room must be said) is 74! Thats more than 13c lower! Wow.
