New Video Card

I have a buddy who has a 460W power supply and wants to upgrade his video card to a 7950 or the new 670. Do you guys think that will be enough juice for it?

1) Wattage is to low
2) Brand is more important

ATLEAST a 600W for either of those cards, unless your friend likes the smell of burnt plastic and money.

Thanks guys. You confirmed what I figured

I think 550-650 watt minimum of a good quality PSU... a 460 won't cut it (or for long) especially if it's a low end one.

Quality 650w IMO. You could get by on a bit less (600w), but I would not try with a 460w.

I told him to pick up a 650w PSU at least.

Don't buy a random cheap 650w PSU either...Make sure it is a quality PSU. Antec, Seasonic, Corsair, XFX are all pretty safe brands if he is unsure and doesn't want to do research.
