Since my original posts were lost during the downtime...

I think you actually need to bump up the clock speeds along with setting the power target to 135%. Running just the power target only means that both cores will run at the maximum stock "boost" frequency. Otherwise it seems core 2 always runs slower.

Overclocking definitely has some benefit though as 3DMark11 showed gains:

And here's Cinebench for you, stock clocks:

hmmm interesting, thank you for running that.
47fps is actually reallyreally low. I had a single HD5750 that did 40fps and my GTX460 can barely hit 30 or something IIRC. If you run it while watching the utilization my GTX460 is never running at 100% during cinebench. I guess your 690 is in the same sort of situation. Damn.

K I just bumped the GPU clock to +100mhz and power target to +135%

Doesn't appear I can go too much higher. Overclocking this is a little annoying as it looks my computer up whenever I push it too far.

Heaven 3.0

FPS 91.7
Score 2311
Min 39.6
Max 223.9

Not too bad. A 6% improvement over stock. Will OC more some other day. This week is really busy. Funny thing is the first game I will play and not bench is Mass Effect 2 lol as I want to do a true paragon play-through from 1-3. Not the most demanding game haha.

Just for laughs I played some Counter Strike Source and playing Office I would say with an average of 600FPS.

Guess it's running more on the CPU then. I figure it's due to NVIDIA keeping their product lines separate, the GeForce cards always have low OpenGL performance to allow them to sell Quadro/Tesla products instead.

I think using modded Quadro drivers sometimes shows improvements, but I can't be bothered as I have no use for it

I'd like to get one, not sure how much of an upgrade over 3 480's it's be though... surely not $1k worth.

Well it would be about equal to 3 480's. So it depends on what you want. If your 480's are water cooled then there isn't much reason other than saving a hell of a lot of power, heat, and space. If you aren't water cooled then it will be significantly quieter.

If you sell your 3 480's at a decent price it may be worth it.

A 690 is quite a bit faster than 3 480's.
