Default Gtx 690 and my old tower; bottlenecked?

Tempted to buy a gtx 690 when they hit but just wondering if my older parts will hamper its performance at all:
P8p67 asus mobo
I7 2600k oc to 4.4ghz
4gb 1600 7-8-7 ram
750watt psu

Should i up ram?
Maybe get new mobo?

Upgrade to at least 8GB of ram and probably a 1KW power supply. You'll be good to go!

Nope. The GXT 690 only requires a 650W PSU, even when paired up with SB-E.

Your system won't bottleneck it....but I seriously hope you'll be playing a 2560 x 1440 or higher....if not, all that power will go to waste.

I do however highly recommend upping memory to 8GB.

I'd recommend going to 8GB of RAM as it seems there are quite a few new games out there that seem to be memory hogs and 4GB sometimes just doesn't do it anymore. Some examples I can think of is BF3( at 2560 x 1440 ran better with 8GB of ram compared to 4GB), and Star Wars the Old Republic (Runs fine on 4GB of ram at 1080p, however if you close the client takes windows up to 30 secs to respond due to the amount of RAM it uses. Switching to 8GB on my fiancee's rig fixed her closing the game issue).

Your ram *should* be just enough, if you don't have anything else running (no messengers, web etc) but your right on the limit of what your machine will use in some new games..
Upping it to 8 gb would make sense, more than that would be wasted.

690 is serious over-kill unless like SKYMTL says your on high res..

Can I ask what is your current card and res you play at?
at anything below 2560 x 1440 res a 680 should be plenty (and half the price)

If you are going for a 690.. the only thing that might hold it back any is the PCI-E not being 3.0.. but that remains to be seen in the review which should be out in a few days.

Somewhat agree, except if using 120Hz, he should see some nice improvements at 1920x1200/1080p.

I am currently on a gtx 470 on my 46" tv at 19..x1080.

Yea y 1k psu for 690? I thoughtthis card was suppose to use less power? Or did i mix things up?

Ok will up ram to 8gb.

Yes i was also wondering about pcie 3.0 cuz my mobo is older.

So this is overkill for a 46 " tv... Ill try for 680 but sold out everywhere...plus 690 comes w ridiculous iamcool rights
