Try bake, if not get the 570 / 480..
that or wait a month and HOPEFULLY there will be the 6xx mid range cards out which if nout else will drive the prices of your current options down even further.

But a month is a long time to go without a GPU.

Finally got chance to have a look inside my PC today and I think I found the problem. I have a fan on my side panel and one of the two wires came loose from connector that was attached to the fan header on the motherboard and was lying directly on top of the PCB :/

Would baking solve that?

Try running it without the extra wire?

I don't think you quite get what I'm saying. Hopefullly my paint skills will help explain.

One of the two cables from the case fan nearby was lying on top of the video card PCB. I'm guessing it fell out while my computer was on thus causing it to short or out or something which is the cause of my problems.

Well if it did major damage all you need to tell is to take a sniff.... if it smells like burnt electronics then thats your answer.... or you might have gotten lucky and the short didnt fry anything (unlikely though) :/ hope that helped

No burnt electronic smell which is good and Windows still works, just lots of artifacts on the screen. Got nothing to lose so just baked it to see if that helps. If it doesn't looks like I'll be waiting for the 660 Ti.

Have a good look at the back of the video card PCB, if a circuit was "blown", then you might see a break in one of the PCB circuits/wires.
