I think the "680" was originally their "mid-range" card that, because of lack of competition from ATI, has since been released as their current high-end GPU for a higher price.

I guess the 670's and 660's will be hacked up versions of the current 680. The cards are good but have gotten expensive!!!

Damn if it was 800$ I would get with a heartbeat, but 1000$... that's just a little over the top.

If the 690 is coming out already, I can't wait to see what the 685 or 695 may look like (if it exists in their roadmap)

I do agree about the G92 which was essentially a revision of G80, while the GK104 is a new architecture which is just at the beginning of it's life. And of course NVIDIA will get everything the can from it for quite a time before replacing it.

ok, seriously, who in their right mind is going to pay $1000 for this card...its exactly like the ASUS GTX 580 MARS II which was at $1500. Not many people are going to be paying for it. Instead of making ridiculous products with ridiculous prices, they should redirect their focus on the production of more GTX 680s and the GTX 685. If AMD makes their 7990 in the 800-900 price range, NVIDIA loses. I was looking forward to this card until the goddamn price range completely threw me off...I think i can speak for the majority of people and say that if presented to them, the choice would be the 7990 IF it were to be cheaper. NVIDIA SUCKS

I think people need to calm down a bit..

Is it a silly powerful expensive card.. yes (I want one:D )
They did it simply to grab hold of the single fastest card title.. Nothing else.
Lower end cards will be along soon... Christ.. when the 580 was released in nov 2010 it took them to March(?) to release the 560TI.. give them a chance ffs it's only been a few weeks
I'm quite surprised they are releasing this so fast but with the 670 and 660 looming they are doing a good job IMO..

And what will Nvidia do when the 7990 is released?
Well either it will be close on performance and they will bring their pricing in line with it.. or it will kick it's ass and they won't..

AMD screwed up with the 7970.. It was too expensive and they didn't react to the 680 fast enough..

Will Nvidia get as much money out of one product as possible.. I hope so.. cos then they have more money to advance their research on the next product.
They would be crazy not to.

I have seen plenty of people paying $1000 for two GTX 680 cards...
