Default EVGA GeForce GTX 680 SC+ 2GB Review Comment Thread

EVGA's new GTX 680 SC+ is looking to capitalize upon the popularity of NVIDIA's latest creation and with a custom backplate alongside higher than reference clock speeds, it has a serious chance to capture a good portion of the high end market. However, is a $30 premium for this card money well spent?

Ironically for the backplate alone its probably money well spent but that card is a monster, I love it.
Can't wait to see what EVGA has cooked up for the future.

It has the HP for sure. Nice card. But maybe a hard fit on a mATX board though!!!!

That seems to be worth the $30 premium. The 680's are powerful cards for the 256 bit interface, incredible really.

However, at 2500 x 1600 (Metro, Crysis 2, and BF3) a stock 680 is 20-28% faster than in a stock 580....
Reminds me of the GTX 8800 to GTX 9800 in terms of performance increases -that was a step down to a lower bus width, but with a more streamlined architecture running faster and cooler- was a hell of a lot cheaper at release though. If the above game details are maxed out with more AA, I'm willing to bet the difference will be smaller than 20-28% at enthusiast resolutions.

Its a great card but not a massive step up for gamers at enthusiast resolutions. Both the 580 and 680 overclock well so I'm not sure overclocking will change anything....if anything it might close the gap even more

I'd also like to see them test it clock for clock against a 580, just to get and idea of additional performance when they release the larger memory bus versions i.e. 384bit+. All that said its still an amazing card.

Well, thanks to the sale of some kit, and some money for my B'Day at the end of the month, just pulled the trigger on one of these.

Same or better performance (slightly better I think) than my sli'd 560 ti cards without the massive heat / power draw that SLI was giving me (I was pushing over 600W folding), as well as an upgrade from 1G Vram up to 2G which seems to be getting into the range of being a bottleneck.

As far as the extra warranty goes.... It's great that they offer the option, but I can't see keeping a card longer than 3 years so I'm sure that the standard will be fine for me, although depending on the cost I might be interested in paying a little bit for security WRT easy RMAs.

Now it's just a waiting game, and hopefully when they do get stock, they get it in the TO warehouse rather than the Vancouver one.... ground shipping from one coast to the other is for the birds!!!! :)

Ordered it from NCIX. Of course it's not in stock, so it's a waiting game. :)

I ordered mine from NCIX last week. I was told 2 to 3 weeks for delivery. Worth the wait as far as I'm concerned.
